Another fun fact about cats is that their faces which they love to deposit in children's sand boxes carry a parasite that can cause serious health risks. If my dog defecated in the neighbours sandbox and gardens I don't think they would be impressed.

Domestic cats were bred by people to be companion animals and as such can easily be controlled by a leash or closed door.

And when Fluffy does become a fox's dinner, then the owners are horrified and demand that the city does something about the foxes.

This is NOT JUST a fishing forum!!
The header for this is “Hunting and Conservation”, and that is what this is in reference to.
Cats are house pets, and should be kept inside because they are killers of birds and small mammals!
Saturday morning while I was loading my kayak on the Jeep at dawn a fox came trotting down the street with what looked like a cat in his mouth … Figured he saved a lot of neighbourhood wildlife with that prize!!

Hmmm, I don't believe anyone is advocating trapping or killing anyones pet cat. Domestic cats are not part of "nature" any more than a dog is.

There was a documentary done a few years ago where they put camera's on people's house cats. When they showed the owners the footage of "Fluffy" killing on a regular basis, the owners were horrified and vowed to keep theirs indoors, go forward.

Wild animals kill to survive, cats will kill for fun.

If you have a cat and are interested in conservation, which is the topic of the this forum, then you might be interested in what they are up when they are out and about, that's all.

That still exists today I believe except hunters keep a lid on it .
It's the general neighbourhoods where the cats kill wildlife that is the most concerning . Cats are easy to trap ...... sardines are cheap....

Today was awesome for me wow! Woke up at 445am to go fishing got to my spot, fished a bit nothing so moved down a bit more using worms, around 530am had a massive hit and line started running knew it wasn't a bass! 5 minutes later got him in and was a nice 5lb rainbow trout yummy! Gonna be good eats on the bbq! Ended up meeting with a buddy after that to try another spot and ended up the morning with 5 nice size smallies! All done fishing by 9am! And got all the smallest on a spoon and the trout on a dew worm! The trout was caught in 5 fow with current mayhe 3 foot out and the bass were caught just wading up to my knees in shorts. We got some good meat for the freezer and some dinner tonight yummy!

Growing up we had a cat that terrorized the local wildlife, used to bring home squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks, etc. Only one time did it bring home a rat, which got a ride on the bus to school with me...(amazing how much fun you can have with a dead rat) lol.  Any cats out in the bush were viewed as vermin back then.

Sometimes it’s just about getting out into nature. Glad it wasn’t a skunk, not been the greatest weather in Niagara.

Took my son and grandson out this morning to CB in the tin boat - I let them fish while I ran the boat.
We started off fishing the shallow areas where I got my bass yesterday, but no bass at all - my son just got a sheephead.
Water was choppy, with small whitecaps - we were the only boat out there this morning.
Kept working our way out till we finally got to our usual catch area, bouncing around in the waves.
Grandson ended up catching 2 bass there - I estimate one about 3 1/2 Lbs and the other close to 4 Lbs.
Had to quit after the second bass as the grandson got seasick from the bouncing around.
Was real glad to see him get the fish - last year he got the biggest bass of the season (close to 5 Lbs.)
Have to try and get out there later in the week with my kayak again.

I believe that. Where i hunt there are some feral cats and i have seen sign of dead rabbits and birds near where they den.
i suppose you have to consider if its more important to you to have less rodents or birds around your place.
Personally, i would get rid of them.

Well it's too hot for this aging turkey to go fishing , so I spend more time inside with our new pooch (just gave him some flea meds..)
My stepdaugter gave him a hair cut and clipped his nails.....and brought me a Fathers' Day gift .
And , I am having trouble finding a new bag of corn puffs at any of the big stores . I bought my last bag at the Bulk Barn a "few" years ago ...oops ! The bag says this product expires at October 2012  !!  That "was'" a few years ago  !! But the carp don't know that that fortunately . I still have some remaining .
Last shot was taken about 70 years ago where I caught my last bunch of carp ...amazing they are still there !  Check the card out Tyler......

I remember your puffball lasagna Jack , but still haven't found any puffballs .....
I still do the 5 piece pike fillet method & have posted using them for kabobs on the bbq.
...so many ways to prepare fish ....remember chef Mick ?
Anyone do sushi with fresh water fish ?  ( not  compatible with my palette )  lol
My neighbour does an excellent job smoking fish (bows are my fav.)  He has a new  pellet smoker I need to try....
We had deep fried perch from "your spot"  & used pancake batter but I need to spice it up a tad as it was a little 'bland' .
It would be nice to get more ideas on how to clean/prepare/cook our favourite fresh water fish .
The fish we buy from Beamsville F & C (haddock) is a little too heavy on the batter which of course , make the fillets look larger .....(thick batter) ?
Bruce......maybe share your GREAT fish head soup/chowder !
